Cologne bounced back quickly after the war – but often without much tact.
Where history once breathed, sober, functional buildings shot up.
Today, many of these post-war blocks are considered real eyesores in the cityscape.



Historic facades and established urban structures were replaced by sober concrete blocks and uniform functional buildings that evoked the spirit of modernism but rarely exuded charm.
